UCLH Charity is proud to work in partnership with Argentum and LowCarbon to make a difference to patients and staff at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH).
During the pandemic, Argentum came to our rescue by providing high-quality skincare products to relieve the dry, sore skin experienced by staff who were required to wear personal protective equipment around the clock.
Their generosity continued as they provided luxury skin care packs for patients staying at the Cotton Rooms, UCLH’s patient hotel. Patients who stay in the hotel are often required to have daily cancer treatment, so a little something to make them feel a little more cared for during tough times was very much appreciated.
Fast forward to 2024, when Sam (Argentum) and Mark (LowCarbon) organised a fabulous fundraising event, The Great London Bridges Walk, to raise funds that would go towards recruiting a clinical nurse specialist for patients with skin cancer at UCLH.
Clinical nurse specialists are there for the patient's journey – from diagnosis to treatment and beyond – and are a central point of contact and a source of knowledge for patients, their families and caregivers at what can be a very distressing time.
We are delighted that the funds raised by the walk and other charitable donations have contributed to the creation of the clinical nurse specialist post, which has now been filled!
To help support further funding for the post, Sam, Mark and the team are taking on The Great London Bridges Walk again this Autumn on Sunday, 14th September, raising more money and awareness of skin cancer, the UK’s 4th most common cancer.
